It would be good to recall that Field Marshal Erwin Rommel took decisive action to rid Germany of Hitler late in World War II. He and other leading military attempted to assassinate Hitler. Assassination is not generally a good idea but when a country is ruled by a tyrant who does not give a hoot about the country's citizens and when there is not a viable democratic method of dealing with the situation (this is the definition of tyranny) it seems to me that assassination by internal forces is appropriate.
Will some patriotic Syrian generals take a lesson from Rommel?
I hope so.
Rommel's attempted assassination almost worked. In the end he gave his own life for his noble purpose. Hitler was sending German soldiers to slaughter when it was abundantly clear that the war was already lost.
